Planning and Design

Approach

Stephanie is a Chartered Town Planner and holds an MA in Urban Design. Notwithstanding its small size, Jersey contains a rich diversity of landscapes and seascapes. Stephanie applies her understanding of valuable urban, countryside and marine design principles to all projects in an island where a guiding principle for all development is that land is scarce. She has a deep understanding of the decision-making process in Jersey and also of the Jersey context.

A passionate advocate for holistic design, urban design principles underpin all of Stephanie’s work. Clients benefit from Stephanie’s ability to apply and test her holistic understanding of design principles early on in the design process.

Some notable examples of successful work include:

  • Approval for 16 family homes and a new playing field for St John’s Primary School following a Public Inquiry. The scheme includes a pedestrian footpath, providing connectivity and safe access for residents via La Rue de Buttes to St John’s Primary School and St John’s Village Centre.
  • Approval for 200 new homes at Samares Nursery. The scheme includes new non-vehicle links to integrate the site and the wider area with the Eastern Cycle Route. Consideration of important environmental aspects including heritage, a high water table and the need to protect important ecology also underpinned early design decisions and subsequent approaches to delivering the scheme.
  • Rezoning of four sites for affordable housing as part of the Bridging Island Plan, 2022.
  • Rezoning of Coastal National Park site to Built-Up Area as part of the Bridging Island Plan, 2022 to support the delivery of a range of homes in the island.

Core Values

  • Environmental stewardship, our approach to design considers the widest consideration of environmental impacts. Early design choices are Informed by the most up to date Government of Jersey approach to environmental strategy.
  • Community engagement, we believe in involving the community in the planning process.
  • Design quality, we aim to help to clients achieve the highest quality design.
